摘要

This paper examines the main implications that the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and mainly the Internet have in the strategic management process in general, and in the new business environment, in particular. This work focuses in the alterations that ICT and the Internet have promoted in the economic and socio-cultural environment of the Spanish firms, according to the classic models of analysis of the business environment This paper tries to find the answer for same basic questions like the following ones: How the ICT and the Internet change the business environment? Can we consider this new business environment responsible of the capacity of firms to find a sustainable competitive advantage ? Starting from the optimistic premise that firms have been always aware of the impacts of the environment, the way the firms prepared to react to it has not been always efficient enough. The reason is that firms tend to analyse only those factors of the environment that affect them directly and to forget the indirect effects, as well as the fact that firms themselves can control their own environment.
