摘要

Currently the United Mates Army uses a five gallon water container that has been in production since the 1960's. It is difficult to clean, difficult to handle, continues to occupy its full volume when empty, spills water during pouring, and sometimes breaks when being re-supplied by an air drop. A full product development sequence was followed to design a new product capable of improving the current faults and implementing new features. A system has been designed consisting of a "bag" made of CorduraRTM fabric coated with silicone and polyurethane that attaches to a rigid two-piece collapsible high density polyethylene container. The new container is easier to clean, can be stacked, can have gravity fed pouring, is able to be hung from a vehicle, and is currently being produced for evaluation in field trials.
