摘要

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between posttraumatic growth and optimism, perceived social support from family, friends and prosocial behavior. A sample of 90 Iranian American immigrants recruited by convenient sampling method. The participants were administered the PTGI, the LOT-R, PSS-Fr, PSS-Fa, SRA self report. Mean total PTG score (SD) was 31.89 (28.22), indicating a low degree of posttraumatic growth. It was hypothesized there is a positive correlation between optimism, perceived social support from family and friends, and prosocial behavior. These hypotheses were not supported ; however, the results show that a high level of prosocial behavior was associated with a high level of posttraumatic growth. Limitations and recommendations for future research were discussed.
