摘要

The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of developing a professionally accredited non-engineering aeronautical/aerospace science doctoral degree program in U.S. universities. A descriptive study survey questionnaire was used to collect data for this study which was sent to collegiate aviation faculty members throughout the U.S. from the August 1992 University Aviation Association (UAA) membership roster.;The trend for higher education has permeated into the collegiate aviation community. Currently, doctoral programs in aeronautical/aerospace science do not exist to meet the new challenges in this multi-faceted field. It is anticipated that a need to develop a doctoral program has arrived, however, there appears to be a great deal of controversy as to what a doctoral program should entail.
