Coronary artery disease is a very common cardiovascular disease in the clinical setting, while depression is a psychiatric illness associated with emotional disorders. In recent years the association between coronary artery disease and depression has been increasingly highlighted. Depression in combination with coronary artery disease has become more prevalent. It is an important independent risk factor which plays a role in the onset, development, and prognosis of coronary artery disease.
