On the basis of reviewing and analyzing on city development process, Eamonn Canniffe＇ s book named urban Ethic ——Design in the Contemporary City has discussed various sorts of arguments on city renewal and the contemporary city life contradiction. This book points out socalled ＂a fourfold model＂ , which consists of four elements of urban design, namely patterns, narratives, monuments and spaces.
