This book followed the trend of taking the eight famous poets in Tang and Song Dynasties as the ancient essays schools from Nan Song Dynasty. It firstly concentrated compiling the prose written by the six famous poets of Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Ouyang Xiu, Zeng Gong, Wang Anshi and San Su and substantially increased the proportion of the prose written by Zeng Gong, thus greatly facilitated the canonization of Zeng's prose. The unique arrangement resulted from jointed causes of the continuous enhancement of Zhuzi 's Neo-Confucianism, persistent occurrence of the Imperial Examinations System, Neo-Confu-cianism atmosphere of the East Zhejiang Scholarship, Confucian tradition of the Zhu Family, Confucianism ideas of social commu-nication and literature thoughts of respecting Six Classics and doctrine.
