Owing to the misunderstanding of the core concept equivalent/equivalence by many translation theorists in China,Nida's definition of translation was also misunderstood.This paper analyses the wrong translation on the basis of providing new version of Nida' definition of translation.%由于中国主流派翻译理论家几十年一直对西方一种现代流行的翻译理论的核心术语equivalent/equivalence的理解和翻译有误,以至于当前盛行的关于尤金.奈达翻译定义的多种译文都曲解了其原意。在提供奈达翻译定义的最新译文的基础上,对一种错误译文进行了评析。
