摘要

Are traditional universities facing extinction by the year 2025? This question, and related ones, are addressed in this timely and ground-breaking contribution to the debate on the "crisis" facing higher education (HE) worldwide. Many observers contend that we are experiencing a broadening of access to education equal in significance to the invention of the printing press, the public school, and the public library, yet others believe that higher education is in a holding pattern of status quo. To address this issue, Christensen and Ey-ring's (2011) work provides scholarly depth and clarity with respect to the ongoing debate of where we are in higher education and where we go from here.
