When we first had the idea of this special issue, we had several discussions with various experts in the area to identify people that we wanted to encourage to participate due to their experience and importance in the social enterprise and social innovation movement. The names of various scholars and practitioners came up over numerous discussions, but one scholar came up in almost every discussion: Professor Frances Westley. Professor Westley has been a leader in educating social entrepreneurs and innovators for decades and has both designed and delivered highly successful programs, as well as distilling her thinking into influential books and articles.
