Educational systems in the MENA need to accommodate rapid growth in student population. From 2005 to 2025, the youth (15-24 year olds) will increase from 87.5 million to 95 million. Business educational institutions need to match student skills with employer needs. MENA's transition to more market-driven and globally oriented economies requires continuing progress in widening and deepening the stock of human capital and changes in the qualitative outputs of the region's educational systems (United Nations Development Programme, 2002: 26).
