India has backed away from plans to build the ShinMaywa US-2 amphibian locally, Indian media sources reported on January 27. The country has a requirement for 12 US-2s. All will now be built in Japan, but the Indian and Japanese Governments have agreed to a 50% offset plan to ensure local Indian industry involvement.
