The French Army's ecole de I'Aviation Legere de I'Armee de Terre (Army Aviation School) will begin training helicopter pilots from the Force Aerienne Tchadienne (Chad Air Force) by the end of this year, according to Jean-Louis Rotmbin, Chairman and CEO of the Defense Conseil International (DCI) -which was created in 1972 to facilitate the transfer of military operational experience to nations acquiring defence materiel from France. The DCI is responsible for running the helicopter training facility as part of the HeliDax consortium, which also involves Spanish helicopter operator INAER. The two companies formed HeliDax in 2008 to offer helicopter training services to the French Army. Prior to this, DCI ran the training contract alone. The French Army's helicopter training school is based in the spa town of Dax, in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the south-west of the country.
