The headline in the Chicago Tribune in May said it all: "O'Hare tells passengers to arrive 3 hours before flight." Passengers at Chicago O'Hare and other major US hubs have been missing their flights, sometimes sleeping in cots on airport floors, as security screening queues have grown painfully longer through this spring. Worse, US Department of Homeland Security secretary Jeh Johnson told media in May that the problem is not going away, and he warned of long wait times this busy summer season, advising travelers to have "appropriate expectations" (see Analysis, page 14).
