Boeing wants to add flying people to the mix of flying taxis and package-delivery drones expected to be buzzing around the lower airspace in the near future. On Sept. 27, a group of aviation and aerospace advocacy groups backed by Boeing launched the Go Fly Prize: a two-year competition, with $2 million in prizes, to design and build a "safe, quiet, ultra-compact, near-VTOL personal flying device capable of flying 20 miles while carrying a single person."
