摘要

The production of aluminium and aluminium alloy strips - starting at the hot rolling mill or a continuous casting plant through to sellable strips for the widest range of applications - involves the material passing through several stages of heat treatment. Depending on the starting material and the technological specifications of the final product, the heat treatment processes may involve annealing, homogenizing, solution heat treatment, recrystallizing, aging or temper annealing. Basically, all the heat treatment processes can be performed during continuous annealing with a floater furnace. However, cost effective operation of such a facility is only possible if it used predominately to solution heat-treat strips. On the other hand, it is not technically possible to solution heat-treat strips in a batch-type furnace. From an economical point of view, this kind of furnace is ideal for the remaining heat treatment processes.
