The Cleveland Chapter of the ASA is offering its 26th spring conference/short course on May 11. Heping Zhang, a Fellow of the ASA and Institute for Mathematical Statistics, will present "Recursive Partitioning and Applications." The day-long presentation will cover chapters 1-4, 6, 8, and 9 of his book with the same name. Topics will include the basics of tree construction, logistic regression and trees for a binary response, random forests, and analysis of censored data. The course will benefit those who want to use trees and adaptive splines to analyze high-dimensional and complex data, as well as students and researchers who wish to develop related classification and regression methods and software.
