"Once You Have Tasted flight, you will forever walk the Earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return." Although this beautiful piece of prose is well known to pilots, it could not have been meant for us. When written by Leonardo da Vinci some 500 years ago, there were no pilots. Perhaps the Italian master of the Renaissance was imagining what flight would or could be like.
