Superior's operations manager, Robert Taylor, says the extraordinary feat has been achieved in just five years.rn"We have achieved 30 per cent year-on-year growth for five years," Taylor says.rn"We experienced our biggest year ever in the middle of the recession and forecast things will only get better.rn"It's got nothing to do with discounting - that's for certain.rn"Gildan often sells at a higher price than competitors, and even in the middle of the financial meltdown, pricing was held steady."rnThe secrets to success, Taylor says, are the quality of the garments and knowing your market.rnIn total, Gildan sells about 600 million garments a year worldwide, with chain stores, touring band merchandisers, promotional product distributors and fashion designers ordering clothing by the truckload.rnSuperior's managing director, Donovan Callaghan, says Gildan mostly manufactures in Central American factories wholly-owned by the company and ships a container load of 60,000 T-shirts to Australia at a rate of one or two containers per week.rn"We are growing simply on the strength of the product," Callaghan says. "Growth is snowballing."
