Nada's average dealership saw a 4.5 percent increase in total sales for the first nine months of 2007 from the same period in 2006, in part from a net decline of 250 dealers. Total dealership gross jumped more than 5 percent, as net profit before tax remained at 1.8 percent. But total dealership expenses rose 5.2 percent. Though floor-plan expenses dropped slightly through September, ad expenses rose more than 5 percent in 2007 and rent and equivalent suf- fered a whopping 9 percent increase.
