For Aurora Flight Sciences, the path from developer to producer of unmanned aircraft is proving elusive, but it is not preventing the company from pursuing ever more advanced designs.rnAs Manassas, Va.-based Aurora completes development of its GoldenEye 80 vertical-takeoff-and-landing (VTOL) tactical unmanned air vehicle without securing a customer, it is preparing to fly a subscale precursor of its solar-powered, ultra-endurance Odysseus. The company is also restarting work on the Excalibur VTOL unmanned combat air vehicle, which was put on the back burner while resources were diverted to completing GoldenEye development.
