A bold bid by Lufthansa to bring the airline world into the air charter business should survive the current downturn in the business jet sector, executives say.rnLufthansa started bizjet operations in 2005, in cooperation with NetJets, to feed high-paying first-class passengers from outlying airports into its intercontinental route system. However, the service proved even more popular with passengers on thin point-to-point routes who were anxious to save time and reduce security hassles. In December 2007, NetJets pulled out and Lufthansa decided to continue alone with its own fleet of business aviation aircraft under the brand name Lufthansa Private Jet (LPJ).
