Airbus economists believe the airline industry will grow 2.8 times in overall size in the next 20 years, while the world fleet will double to nearly 22,000 commercial transports, including 17,300 new aircraft deliveries. The Global Market Forecast (GMF) released here recently largely matches Boeing's predictions. It indicates the production of 100-seat-plus aircraft will generate $1.9-trillion in revenues, an estimation based on published list prices. The demand will be dominated by three key market segments, with European carriers representing 32% of aircraft deliveries, the U.S. 28% and the Pacific Rim 27%.
