When both nematode species, M. incognita and H. dihystera co-inhabited the same banana root, the behaviour of the root-knot nematode was relatively affected. The percentage of reduction in total final population and rate of build-up on plants with mixed nematode inoculation were less than those singly inoculated with either M. incognita or H. dihystera. As for plant growth, when inoculation was carried out by both nematode species, the percentages of reduction in plant growth parameters were greater, in most cases, than with either of nematode species. When different ages of banana cv. Williams were used to study such an influential factor on development and reproduction of M. incognita, the nematode behaved differently according to the host age. The obtained results showed, generally, an inverse relationship between the plant age and the nematode population densities. Accordingly, the amount of damage in the plant growth was more pronounced in the younger plants (2 and 4 months) than in the older (6, 8 and 12 months) ones.
