In this issue of Business Communication Quarterly, we continue our exploration of social networking in our themed section. It is a good opportunity to reflect on life before Facebook seemed to be everywhere. Before I understood how rapidly this phenomenon was growing, I remember receiving a message from a student whom I did not even know asking me if I would be her "friend." At the time, I thought it was one of the most bizarre messages I had ever received. Even odder was the fact that she communicated with me on one of my personal e-mail accounts, and I had no idea how she found it.
