"As social network technologies not only frame the way individuals interact and learn, but actually impact the learning process itself," notes Lisa Dawley (2009), "new pedagogies are needed to effectively integrate these communication mechanisms into the learning environment" (p. 110). Student and faculty immersion in what are becoming traditional social networks-Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln-as well as more adventuresome venues-podcasting, microblogging, wikis, RSS syndication-are beginning to change the landscape of education.
