Southeast Asia's currency crisis has begun to take its toll on domestic and foreign chain store ventures throughout the region. Widespread economic slowdowns brought about by the contagious nature of the crisis that has been hitting the area hard since last fall started redrawing the retail landscape in the "emerging" market in the first quarter of 1998.
