In the last article I wrote I discussed the requirements an engineering specification must meet to become a successful standard; and the role of specifications and standards in achieving interoperability. IT moves forward quickly, and best practice for architect-ing and achieving interoperability is no exception - so in this article I discuss the role that Service Oriented Architecture and Web Services can play in achieving "interoperability by design".
