As the flexible circuit industry continues to grow, thrive and expand the horizon of possibilities for the electronics interconnection and packaging industry, it remains an important task to remain mindful of our roots and the valuable lessons learned so that we might avoid making the same mistakes that provided the earlier lessons. It is also important for those who continue to enter into the world of flexible circuits to understand the technology's origins so that they can more fully appreciate how we got here and thence help them to help us drive the industry in the right direction. Thus beginning with this column there will be, every other month or so, a series of columns that will review and update to the extent possible in this short space, a relevant topic related to flexible circuits beginning here with an overview of basic flex circuit constructions.
