Adjudication provides a speedy mechanism for settling disputes under construction contracts on a provisional interim basis. It keeps the cash flowing and, hopefully, projects being progressed, before the question of who is entitled to the money is finally decided. It may surprise a party considering adjudication however that if it gets cash now, it may be postponing the date for final determination of the dispute. It may surprise a party even more that by getting cash now, it may inadvertently limit how much it can ultimately recover.
