The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (Req#4791) in Structural Engineering starting Fall 2010. All ranks will be considered. An earned doctoral degree in civil engineering or a related field is required. Successful candidates must have exceptional qualifications and be capable of developing outstanding teaching and research programs. The department is interested in strengthening existing programs while expanding into new multidiscipli-nary areas. Structural areas of particular interest include innovative bridge engineering, smart and adaptable structures, design for nontraditional loads, nondestructive evaluation, and composite materials. The promise of the candidate's research is of higher priority than the specific area of research.
