Since the General Election there has been much speculation as to what the resources industry can expect to gain from the first Conservative majority Government in more than 20 years. At recent resource events, including the World Waste to Energy City Summit in London, which I attended, this subject has been debated at length. We know now that the resource and environment brief is the responsibility of new minister, Rory Stewart OBE, but it already seems that he is going to have his work cut out in devoting much time to our sector, given that his brief also includes the natural environment, flooding and water, and he also has lead responsibility for the Environment Agency, Natural England and the Forestry Commission.
