In early May the European Commission published an "Indicative Roadmap" setting the context for its forthcoming revised Circular Economy package, and providing an initial assessment of options and promising more consultation. The Roadmap explains that while the original Commission proposals of July 2014 were almost exclusively focussed on waste management, the new proposals will "step up the ambition" by looking at related key aspects of the value chain which are essential to "close the loop" of the circular economy. At the same time the document states that the waste elements of the package will be made more country specific, with emphasis given to improving implementation of waste policy on the ground.
