THERE ARE only a few of applications tougher than working in waste and recycling... and mining and quarrying are two of them, so the motives behind leading slate and stone supplier Burlington Stone's purchase of a Case 921E wheeled loading shovel and CX470B 360 tracked excavator are doubly valid. The new units join an existing Case machine working at the quarry face at the Furness Quarry, Cumbria. The quarry specialises in high grade slate and stone products for floors, roofing and cladding. It's a very testing operational environment, so it's worth noting that all the wheeled loaders operated in all seven quarry sites owned by Burlington are Case machines supplied by local dealer Dennis Barnfield (Barnfield also recently supplied Case machines to Neales Waste in Preston - Ed).
