By means of ISSR markers and the reaction of amplification the genetic relationships between members of the genus Fagus are evaluated. The taxonomic position between the species Fagus sylvatica L. and Fagus orientalis LYPSKY in Ukraine is established most clearly. A comparison of the inter- and intraspecies bases of genetic distances is performed according to the technique of Nei and Li and corresponding dendrograms constructed by means of the complete concatenation method.
