With the passage of the US Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) in early 2011, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) shifted significant preventative responsibility to producers, demanding that stringent regulations be met prior to inspection by federal regulators. From imported food to large domestic producers, the bill is holding food and beverage processors accountable for the safety of their product throughout the entire supply chain. Understanding the importance of guaranteeing compliance, the majority of producers have already begun to implement programs for transition.
