摘要

Having served in the RAF for 23 years, the last 10 years as a mother of two children, and also being married to a serving member of the RAF, I have explored a wide range of childcare options ranging from private nannies to full-time nurseries and, more recently, live-in au pairs. I therefore feel reasonably well qualified to comment on the challenges of accessing childcare in the military environment. As Chairman of the Federation, I now represent the concerns of RAF family members to those who can make a difference, and childcare comes up as a regular subject of debate.
