Training is a much discussed topic, but is still often the poor relation to hardware and software when developing capabilities. There is a general acknowledgement of people being our best asset, that having properly trained personnel is key to successful programmes, and recognition that human error and skill fade can be expensive. However, the nature of Urgent Operational Requirements (UORs), where rapid 'flash to bang' is the norm, often results in a tendency for an unmeasured training requirement being delivered in too short a timescale to students who may not all have the minimum entry standards to help them optimise the training experience.
