A 77-year-old man with a history of coronary artery disease and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation presented to ouremergency department with anorexia, abdominal painand distension. His abdominal pain had migrated fromthe periumbilical region to the right lower quadrant.He was passing flatus and had a small, nonbloody bowelmovement the day before presentation. He denied anyfever. He had undergone no endoscopic procedureswithin the past year.
