Thisarticleanalyzestherelationshipbetweentransnationalmigration,state-basedreligiouscosmologiesandnewelectronicmedia.ItillustratesthewaymythicalrealitiesandaChristiancosmologyhavestructuredtheexistenceoftheYemenidiaspora.Inanalyzingthewaymythicalrealitieshavebeendeployed,Iseektounderstandhowoldwaysofcreatingboundarieshavebeenredeployedinelectroniclandscapes.Muchhasbeenwrittenregardingtheinterfacebetweenreligionandmedia.Yetlittleattentionhasbeenpaidtothephantasmicelementthatexistsindigital-basedtransnationaldiscourses.DrawingontheLacanianconceptofjouissanceinthisarticle,Ipinpointhowmythicalrealities,importantforcreatingboundaries,alsooperateatthephantasmiclevel.Indoingso,Iultimatelyaimtoshowhowtransnationalmigrationacrossbordersoperateswithinafieldthatisdottedwithreligiousmythologyandphantasmicrealitiesthatareincreasinglyexpressedintheelectroniclandscape.IalsoshowhowthechangingrelationshipbetweenMuslimsandChristiansshouldbeexplainedbytakingmorefactorsintoaccountthanconcretehumanreality.Explanationsshouldalsobesoughtinthedistantpastandinthedomainoffantasy,whichhassofarprovedtobeuncomfortablegroundformostscholarsstudyingreligiousdynamicsintheHornofAfrica.
