The ruminal fermentation parameters, apparent nutrients degradation and methane production in vitro of mixture of legumes with and without tannins silages and hayfields in the Rusitec System were evaluated. Eight treatments with four repetitions arranged as a complete block design was evaluated. The silages treatments were: T1: Calliandra calothyrsus 100%, T2: Vigna unguiculata 100%, T3: Calliandra calothyrsus/ Vigna unguiculata 67/33%, T4: Vigna unguiculata/Calliandra calothyrsus 67/33%, Hays: T5: Calliandra calothyrsus 100%, T6: Vigna unguiculata 100%, T7: Calliandra calothyrsus/Vigna unguiculata 67/33% y T8: Vigna unguiculata/ Calliandra calothyrsus 67/33%. The evaluated variables were methane production (ml/d), ammonium (mmol/ l), organic matter (MO) degradation (%), protein (PC) and fibers. The bromatologic composition of legumes hay and silages were significant differents (P due to treatments, showing the hay quality than silages. The Calliandra of silages had greater fiber contain than Vigna. The organic matter, crude protein and fiber degradation was highen in legumes silages than hays, being highest for Vigna and thein mixtures, than for Calliandra. The methane production was greaten in the silages legumes without tannins than hayfields. The ammonium was not significant differentce among treatments. The mixture legumes with and without tannins strategy for silage donot seem to reduce the nitrogen lost in the silage material, but the legumes with tannins inclusion reduce the ruminal degradability of the organic matter, the protein and the fiber in the silage forage.
