This descriptive cross-sectional study was done to investigate some aspects of this issue. Data were collected from 116 patients who were transferred to a general medical ward at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) over a period of 3 months. Many inadequacies were noted in documentation, obtaining consent, accompanying medical personnel and appropriateness of transfer.
