:The sleep apnea syndrome is characterized by repetitive episodes of upper airway obstruction thatoccur during sleep, usually associated with a reduction in blood oxygen saturation. The gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter(LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. This paper reviewed the emergency measures for aspiration associated with GERD in a patient with sleep apnea syndrome. Key points of nursing mainly included monitoring on vital signs, instruction on body position, dietary guidelines and health education.
