Chemical Composition of Lavandin Essential Oil (Case Study: Borujerd from Iran)

Background: Lavandula commonly known in Iran as “Ostokhoddous” is a widelydistributed aromatic herb. Lavandin essential oil is mainly utilized in personal care andhygiene products including soaps, shampoos, mouth washes, and industrial andhousehold cleaners, among others. Objective: In the present study, essential oilextracted from lavandin (Lavandula × intermedia) has been evaluated. Gaschromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was employed to determine the chemicalcomposition of essential oil obtained from dry leaves of lavandin. Results: Results ofthis study showed that1,8-Cineole (35.8%), Borneol (17.11%) and Camphor (9.17%)are the main compositions of lavandin harvested from Borujerd area, representing90.68% of the oils.
