摘要

A common belief in HR is that all employees have unique talents. Many also believe that developing these automatically leads to the development of all key organizational competences. This second belief is a mistake. It is like assuming that funding all conceivable research projects will automatically lead to the best product portfolio. A generic development approach will never provide the dedicated selection and deployment of talents that will best implement a given strategy. Strategic talent management (STM) is required to bridge the gap (Overduin, et al., 2018).
