John was the best sales director the company had ever had. He'd worked his way up from the sales force and now headed a team of men who either appreciated or tolerated his gruff, profane, "man's man" approach to them and their targets. The chairman and the board accepted his "rough diamond" persona. Loveable he wasn't but they loved the business he brought in.
