No large organization should underestimate the role of information-sharing systems when implementing enterprise-wide e-learning. This article describes the process of introducing e-learning technology in the case of Norwegian company Telenor. Using activity theory as a tool to understand the network of interacting activity systems, the study identifies the underlying causes of the problems, obstacles, and frustrations that arose during the implementation. The interpretation of empirical data aims to provide new insights into the accomplishment of large-scale e-learning projects.
