Eduction in Singapore has always played very important role in providing skilled labor force to the economy. From the 1960s and even in the present days, the Singapore government exercises strong control over the operation of the education system in Singapore. This state-controlled education system has been relatively successful in producing highly skilled citizens of the nation, and its higher education institutions have also been recognized as among the best institutions in Asia.
