The Latest: Peter Altmaier and Bruno Le Maire, the German and French Finance Ministers,have officially launched GAIA-X, a federated data infrastructure system focusing on cloudservices.Implications: This is a first stage in looking to develop a full European data ecosystem,fitting with the ambition of the European Commission to create a single market for data. 22companies from Germany and France, including Deutsche Telekom, SAP, Siemens,Bosch, BMW, Beckhoff Automation, Plusserver, De-Cix, Orange, Atos, Amadeus,Docaposte, EDF, Dassault Systems, OVH and Safran, will take part in the project, withthe main use cases focusing on some key sectors, including energy, healthcare, agriculture,mobility, finance, smart living, public sector and Industry 4.0.
