The Environmental Protection Agency is seeking to quickly update 2015 standards on toxic emissions from secondary aluminum manufacturing facilities in order to correct some inadvertent errors in the standards and add some clarifying language. The EPA issued a direct final rule, scheduled for publication in the Federal Register June 13, to add in language on regulatory requirements that was inadvertently omitted in the September 2015 rule that updated national hazardous air pollution standards covering the secondary aluminum production industry. The direct final rule (RIN:2060-AS94) also adds clarifying language related to limits on the frequency of changing furnace operating mode to make it clear that a change from one operating mode and subsequent change back to the original operating mode constitutes a single change.
